Job Purpose This role is responsible for the daily supervision and organization of 10-25 assigned field technicians in order to effectively, efficiently and safely accomplish job tasks in line with departmental and National Grid requirements.
At higher levels this role will translate functional policy by designing procedures that drive greater efficiencies and performance within their own team and for National Grid.
This role must also supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling, and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
About the CMS Department:
The CMS department performs many functions for the customers of National Grid.
Chief among them are the first responder duties for both gas and electric emergencies.
Qualified CMS employees respond to and address gas leaks, carbon monoxide calls, no heat calls, electric outages, shock complaints, and other emergency situations.
Additionally, CMS employees turn on and off customer electric and gas service, install and remove meters, perform pipe fitting work, investigate service issues, perform collections activity, and meter reading.
Key Accountabilities Monitor performance of diverse staff Including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work to ensure that operations are carried out efficiently and effectively.
Contribute to the protection and safety of the public and organizational personnel by ensuring that employee personnel protective equipment, tools and equipment, and materials meet National Grid safety policies and standards.
Ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable Federal, State, local rules, and regulations.
Respond to gas emergencies and coordinate with other company emergency response personnel, emergency response agencies, regulators, and the police.
Respond onsite to off hour emergencies including storm restoration, contractor damages, large scale outages, etc Complete all mandated work within regulatory guidelines and address related union issues.
Support the achievement of goals including operational targets, mandated objectives, budget goals, emergency response, field collections, meter reading/AMR, investigations and safety.
Qualifications Experience leading and managing a diverse team towards organizational objectives.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related area.
Technically proficient within subject matter or demonstrated ability to learn the business.
A good working knowledge of tools and systems within designated area or demonstrated ability to be able to become proficient in tools and systems.
More Information Salary:
$85,000 - $100,000 This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
