(MHEP) is a not-for-profit agency organized in 1988 to develop and strengthen self-help and mutual support activities throughout The United States.
MHEP is generally focused on offering skill building activities and education related to self help, mutual support and recovery; organizing people to create desired change in their own lives and in their communities; creating and delivering workshops and skill building seminars that help individuals find and connect with their personal power and the power of self help.
POSITION SUMMARY.
The Assistant Director works under the supervision of the Director and, as a team, they are responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of the agency's programs in accordance with the standards and expectations set out by MHEP.
As a member of the management team, the Assistant Director participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives in addition to problem solving.
He/she works within the guidelines, policies and mission of the organization and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT.
Support the work of the program staff through training, mentoring and team building; Facilitate weekly staff meetings as directed by the Director to maintain effective communication; Work with the Director to recruit, select, hire and provide corrective action to program employees; PROGRAM OPERATIONS AND DELIVERY.
Work with the Director to implement and evaluate program activities in accordance with MHEP Standards; Work with Director to supervise and manage documentation requirements; Work with Director to develop, implement and evaluate recruitment strategies to expand the number of participants in the program; Manage plant operations by monitoring upkeep and repairs within the program space and taking action that addresses problems as they arise.
Assuring that employee work space is office-ready and equipped to preform daily functions; Work with Director to develop annual reports; Monitor consent process to assure program staff are upholding confidentiality processes and procedures; Replace or notify appropriate persons when a Peer Support Mentor is out of work for any reason; Plan and promote program events as per strategic plan and ensure that peer support mentors and participants are aware of event particulars; Maintain records of attendance and outcomes for events held in accordance with program planning; Communicates with the Director on a weekly basis concerning site or individual issues or new projects.
OTHER.
Will become a New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) through the Academy of Peer Services.
QUALIFICATIONS.
The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated experience related to the principles of community organizing, Intentional Peer Support, Strength-based Supervision and Trauma Informed Practices.
Additional requirements of this position include computer literacy, excellent written and oral communication skills, experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously and organizing workload to manage multiple deadlines.
A clean, valid NYS drivers' license, a personal vehicle and absence of felony convictions are also required.
